If you don't want to do that, why don't you use the text ODBC driver to connect to your file?
Also please do not crosspost to all Oracle newsgroups, you'r wasting bandwith, you are not necessarily getting a bigger audience and/or better responses, and people will very often not see the other responses, and respond to an already answered post.
