Report download problem

I have a report that has system parameter DESTYPE = file, DESNAME =
C:\spondl_report.txt and this report is run through the web server which
sets the report to pdf and then sends the report to the desname. This
works fine when desname = preview or screen. But with the desname = to
a path it doesn't seem to work.
Is there a special command to add to the path to make sure it goes to
the client's machine?
This report works fine on the development machine when run with Oracle
reports.
