ORA-40509 (update failure) after succesful updates

I have a client using Forms 6.0 that connects and works fine -- updates and all. If they let the connection sit for 5 minutes, then try to query, everything is still fine. If they let the connection sit for 5 minutes, then query and try to update a record, they get ORA-40509, which is "ORACLE error: unable to UPDATE record". The form then dumps and closes. The dump doesn't say anything useful.

We are running SQL*NET 8.0.5 against an 8.1.5.0.0 database. The Forms Builder version is 6.0.5.35.3. The form is running via the Forms Runtime module (from the same patch set = 7). The client is Windows 98. The server is Solaris 7 on Intel.

How do I fix this?
