FORMS 6i and Images stored in BLOB column

Hi,
hopefully someone can point me in the right direction,
on my form I have an Image Type which is linked to a BLOB field in
the database,
which contains a GIF or JPG.
The database column formerly was a LONG column and I could simply select the
LONG
column into the IMAGE, now this column type has changed to BLOB and I am
getting the
error : ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes.
How do I get the BLOB field to display in the IMAGE item ??
