Universal installer question on Linux 6.2

[Quoted] I am trying to install Oracle 8i on my Linux server. I copied the tar.gz file to my /home directory and then did a tar -zxvf to unzip it. It upzipped the files and created a directory Oracle8iR2 with permissions drwxr-xr-x. I cannot go to that directory though to run the ./runInstaller. [Quoted] It says no such file or directory. Please help?
