DML Returning Value

Does anyone know the effect of changing the 'DML Returning Value' in block property to 'Yes' ? I read the help file and it said that if we change the property to 'Yes' then Forms will automatically update the client side data (if there are changes in server side data), and the user will not need to re-query the database to obtain the changed values. I have tried this but I didn't see any changes in my form after I changed my data in server.
