Save/Data commit?

I'm learning Oracle Reports ...
... What's the difference between save and data commit? ... when I hit "save"
it showed it was going to save it somewhere so I canceled it ... but, the
commit seems to just save it in the file I'm working on. Any other tips on
Oracle Reports would be appreciated. Roy, Oracle Programmer
