Report parameter or form parameter screen?

I need to give the user multiple choices on a parameter screen. What is the best approach. 1. creating a form and passing parameters in the run.product built-in or 2. using the report parameter screen?

It looks like the report parameter screen has some limitations, such as not being able to put a button on it, or to be able include a bind parameter in the where clause of the select statement for a list of values for a parameter, or 3. Not being able to use wildcards in the parameter screen to easily choose a value from a long list of choices. Thanks in advance for any input
