If you want to install DBD::Oracle, you'll probably find it easiest to install the Oracle for Linux Server (without creating the database) on your Linux box. Then you'll have all the necessary libraries for building clients and connecting to your remote Oracle server.

Your DBA then can help you with configuring SQLNet/Net8. John
