For crying out loud! I have a similar problem. I'm running Linux, and wish to connect to an Oracle database running on a unix server. Is it true that I have to install an entire Oracle db just to get SQLNET and sqlplus?! In the Windows world, I can perform a client install. Is the same true for Linux? It certainly seems true that I'll have to download the entire db installer just to get the client....
