Tabs not displayed correctly in Dev 2K Reports

Hi,
I am trying to display tabs - stored in the Oracle database -
in my Dev 2K report. The tabs are present in a long field column
in the database.
The report changes them to spaces. The report is not alligned
correctly this way. Oracle describes this behaviour as a bug and
can not give a work around.
Is there anyone with a working solution?
