Report 6.0 Totals

If I have a report based on period date information. For example:

199810 199811 199812 199901 .... 199909
------ ------ ------ ------ ------

Repeating Frame of values -> per period date. I know how to sum the column and then give a report total sum. Is there a way I can get a report summary of values for a particular period. For example, values for FieldA of 199810 and FieldA for 199811. Basically, I want to break the summary up into the different periods? How can I do this with Reports 6.0.
