I have experience on installing Oracle Workflow (OWF) using either OAS 4.0 or WebDB 2.1.
Installation of OWF server is indeed not trivial. But you can achieve it.

OWF server standalone installation for WebDB is nearly completely described in the installation documentation and consists in:

  • installation of the PL/SQL toolkit (packages htp, htp, owa_*, ...) under predefined schemas (OAS_PUBLIC and WEBSYS schemas)
  • installation of OWF objects (packages, tables, views, ...) in a specific schema
  • configuration of a DAD in WebDB
  • extra configurations stuffs: OWF directory, grants, synonyms, OWF resources, ...
You should achieve it.
I may help you I you have precise questions.

I've downloaded Oracle Workflow release 2.5.0.16 demo from the Oracle
Technet website.
I'm having trouble getting it to work as standalone or embedded in an Oracle
application.
I've tried installing it several times, but the installer seems to crash on
me everytime I
attempt it.  Even though it crashes it seems to have installed the Oracle
Builder client,
which I think is working ok.  My real concern is with the configuration of
Workflow server.
What documentation I've found regarding installation/configuration seems to
be old and
quite complex.  I have Oracle 8i Enterprise Server (8.1.5) and WebDB 2.2
currently installed
on the machine.

If anyone out there has any information about this how to setup and use this
product I would
be very appreciative.
