-We use the free TOAD (http://www.toadsoft.com/) for general database access and minor tuning. I've heard an Oracle guy dis it, but we've been very happy (his reasons seemed unfounded: some guy a while ago supposedly screwed something up by using an old version). I've found it a very mature product with a lot of "nice-to-have" features. One note: you have to download a new version every few months.

-I had to uninstall Oracle's Enterprise Manager. It messed up my local Net8 configuration (TNSNAMES.ORA). And I'm fine without it.

-SQLPLUSW works OK too. This comes on the oracle NT Client CD.

-Telnet + SQLPLUS really isn't too bad.
