There are two things I would check out:

  1. Oracle 8.0.5.1 is not certified with OAS 4.0.8.1. You could try upgrading to 8.0.5.1. If nothing else, this would give you bargaining power when talking to Oracle support.
  2. SP 6.0 could be a bigger problem. Oracle has been known to have issues with "new" service packs. For example, OAS 4.0.7.0 wouldn't even start on SP 4.0 without a patch.
