Oracle net management tools

[Quoted] There are lots of cool tools for Oracle db design and administration, but I've seen little/nothing for managing SQLNet/Net8. Oracle doesn't even package its Net Assist and config guis with its client software - it is bundled with the server, but then tech support gets upset if you say you manually edit the tnsnames file. For example, if I have a DEC server and want to configure a Solaris client, I have to either manually edit the files or download the whole server just to get the gui tools.

Am I the only one who has to deal with a mixture of platforms, clients, etc. and finds it difficult to keep track of, organize, and configure them? Seems like there would be a market for a good network management tool. I believe I saw something somewhere for formatting the listener log but that's about it. At the very least it would be nice if Oracle would package the gui tools with the client SW.

Any thoughts? Anyone know if any such tools exist?

thanks,

fdp
