Hi all,

Overhere we have a Client/Server application that consists of Form and Report modules. We want to move the reports from executing on the clients to a central reports server (Developer 6.0).

I set up the server and it's working nicely. When I startup the Queue Manager on a client machine I can access it.

Now I have to get the reports working when caled from a form that is executing on a client. I started out using the old and familiar RUN_PRODUCT built-in, with an extra parameter added to the parameterlist: SERVER=<TNSNAME_for_Report_Server>. But then I always get the error message: cannot connect to Reports Server. But the Queue Manager is working fine on the same client machine.

I switched to defining a reports object in a form and started using the RUN_REPORT_OBJECT built-in. Now I can actually submit a report request into the queue. Unfortunately my luck runs out here, because the job is always terminated with the error: Error in command-line.

And as all of you might have noticed, the Oracle documentation on all this is quite sparse, or even more presence, it's not even worth mentioning.

Is there anybody outthere how got the Reports Server up and running for this type of application configuration (client WinNT 4 Workstation, server WinNT 4 Server)?

What I want to find out is whether I can actually preview the output in the form. The documentation is quite clear on this, it's explicitly stated that this is possible. But there's nothing more in there besides the statement that it is possible.

Someone who can help me out on this one?

TIA, Erwin Brinkhuis.
