Query on web app generation using Designer6

Hi,
We are trying to generate webServer applications using Designer6. The genearted applications run fine with OAS 4.0. We are facing problem in Writing User defined routines (Javascript/ PL/SQL).
1. How do we use the values of the fields defined in module components and manipulate them. i.e. if we want to perform validations using Javascript, what variables we use?
