Oracle Newbie Blob Question

I'm really new to Oracle, so please excuse me if this is a stupid question.

Does Oracle have any tools for editing Blob's?

A project I'm working on is using BLOB's to store text because this text is larger than 2000 characters (and I'm told this is the only way to store more than 2000 characters). Editing the text is a major pain and the developers have told me Oracle doesn't have any kind of a Blob editor, that you have to create your own.

Is this true? Aren't there any blob editing tools out there? Thanks in advance!
