Reports, WEBDB and JDeveloper??

Oracle seems to be headed away from Reports and toward Java. I am trying to figure out if Reports provides any capability that is not available in WEBDB and JDevloper. In other words if it is true that Oracle is running at full speed toward a pure Java world, and one is just starting out with Oracle, is it worthwhile to learn reports or would my learning time be better spent on WEBDB and JDeveloper?
