The Linux World...Need Assistance

Greetings!!!

I currently have applications deployed with Linux server using 'Another Database'. While it's not SQL, it does the job talking to Win96/98/NT client platforms using TCP/IP on a 100BaseT network using NetTerm. The application deploys 50Mb+ of user code.

For two days I have been talking with Oracle reps about configuration and I can seem to get a straight answer. My desired configuration for development is:

    Server

---

    Linux 2.2.X Server

        512MB Memory
        32 Gb Hard Disk
        Intel 450
        100BaseT Network
        Oracle 8i EE Server

    Development Client

---

    Win 95/98/NT
    100BaseT Network TCP/IP to server

In this configuration, what development tools are available? Will JDeveloper work in the Win platforms and connect to the database on the Linux box?

Your suggestions...Please
