Hi Oliver,
[Quoted]   try changing localhost to the actual host name.   Verify that the thin driver is supposed to work with your 7.x version of the db.

  Since you didn't specify your test setup, possibly verify that there isn't some firewall issue going on...

  After that, contact oracle.
