FORMS: Number of Records in a Data Block?

I'm trying to get how many records are in a Data block. I can get the number of record gave me the last query with GET_BLOCK_PROPERTY(id,QUERY_HITS) but if the user inserts or deletes, i can't know how many records remains in the data block.
Is there any easy way to do it or have i got to keep the count of the number of records in the data block every time the user inserts or deletes?
