Dan's suggestion of copying the tnsnames.ora file didn't work. I figured out this morning that Oracle must be supporting two versions of SQL*NET, a new one in 8.0.4 and the old one in the 1.6.1 installation. I ran the Easy Config and was able to connect. I guess I wasn't expecting the two products to integrate so badly.
I didn't realize that 1.6.1 was an old version of Developer 2000. I thought it was the latest. I'll download the developer version of 6 now.
