Yes I'm afraid the file does exist - I even recreated it as root giving read, write and execute permissions to everyone! Overkill I know but *still* th edarned thing didn't work. We thought we'd cracked it this morning when the UNIX sysadmin noticed the file was locked. He freed it up and we were away - for about 4 hours then the problem recurred! This time, no locks in sight. Ho Hum!
