Developer 2000 access to o/s commands

I am developing a GUI front-end for software release mgmt. and would need to do things like (a) copying source files (like .fmb, .sql, etc.) from one directory to another and then compiling the same/ creating dabase objects. Would appreciate advice on how I can best do this using Developer/ 2000 2.1, Forms 5.0. In particular what is the best way to run an o/s command from within a Forms 5.0 form.
