UNIX escape sequences+Pro*C

I have a (small?) problem. I have a Pro*C program which retrieves data from an Oracle database and writes to an UNIX ascii file which is later printed on a Tally Mannesman T6090 line printer. I would like to print certain text in bold. How do I do that? I know the escape sequences, but don't know how to use them.
