Re: The Data Administration Newsletter (http://www.tdan.com)

Dear DA/DBA Enthusiasts,

I am pleased to announce that TDAN.com 10.0 (the tenth issue of The Data Administration Newsletter) is now available on the internet at http://www.tdan.com. The new issue has a fresh new look on the menu page and a dozen new and interesting articles covering important topics of the day including:

  • Data Mining
  • Enterprise Information Portals
  • Metadata Architecture
  • Project Planning
  • Warehouse Performance Measurement
  • two articles on XML
  • Replication Technologies ... and much more.

Free on-line registration for newsletter announcements is available at http://www.tdan.com/registra.htm.

Beyond the new articles, the following sections have been added or significantly updated:

A TDANews Board has been added that features a list of five news story links that change on a weekly basis. William J. Lewis will provide interesting links inviting you, the readers, to stop back to TDAN.com weekly to learn about stories that may have missed the main stream. This weeks stories tell us about AOL's technical chief resigning, the 100 events that have shaped the last century, ...

A Sponsor Education Series section has also been added that displays links to sponsor white papers that are hosted on their web-sites. Please provide feedback as to your thoughts on these two new sections.

The Book Reviews section has been updated to feature "Books Not Yet Reviewed" providing TDAN readers with the ability to buy a book on-line, read the book, write a review for TDAN.com, and submit reviews for reimbursement of the price of the book. The "Review Reimbursement" program is available on a temporary basis to see how well it catches on.

The Vendor List has been updated once again. Thanks to Sid Adelman of Sherman Oaks, California (USA) for doing his best to keep up with this moving target.

All of the other sections have been updated as well including the Job Classifieds section, The Links and More section (featuring other sites with links to TDAN.com), the Organization Update section, the Monthly Publisher Perspective, and the Meta Data Coalition has also provide a new quarterly update that will interest many readers.

Stay tuned for new additions in the works for TDAN. A TDAN Poll with posted results will be introduced in the near future. And TDAN will team up with some of the most recognizable names and associations in the industry to build on the quality and timeliness of the content provided to its readers.

As always, I am accepting short columns (750-1000 words) that can be added to the monthly perspective section. This section has received extremely positive feedback and can be considered light and typically non-technical reading. I invite you to participate in this forum as Mike Yocca (an independant consultant) did in the September column. Full articles are also being accepted for future issues. The deadlines to note are November 1 for the December 1 issue and February 1, 2000 for the March 1 issue.

The end of the year should be an interesting time for everybody in a data-related profession and I look forward to celebrating the new millennium with you.

Thank you very much for your interest in TDAN.com.

Best Regards.
