I have found that the .fmt files are difficult to read.
For example, once you have located the pirce of code you are looking for in the *.fmt file, it is tough to go back and find it in the 4.5 editor.
There is another way which is more readable. Under File -> Admin there is an option called Forms Doc which will create a *.txt file which is more readable.
