I'm trying to shutdown Oracle 7.3 from Instance Manager from a NT terminal. I connect as SYS but it says that I have to have SYSDBA privileges.

So I connect again as username SYS but with "Connect as" SYSDBA, it just won't have it. It comes back with a message "insufficient privileges".

I can't see a user SYSDBA to change the password and log on as SYSDBA.

I'm totally confused.
Can you please help?

Perhaps one can only shut down from the Windows Instance Manager on the actual server?
