Hi,

I'm afraid I don't have an answer to your question. I just gave up with using reports altogether for character reports and wrote PL/SQL in FORMS to the report, outputting this to a file using the TEXT_IO package.

Yours,

Clint.

Hello,

I am using Oracle Reports 2.5 to create a character mode file that will be sent to another system for automated processing.

All lines of my file must be 300 characters long. One record only requires 250 characters of data, so the last 50 characters must be spaces. I cannot simply have a carriage return after the 250th character.

I tried using a boiler plate text field with 50 spaces, but when I run the report, a carriage return is inserted instead of the spaces.

Question: How do I place trailing spaces at the end of a line?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.
