exp limitation in Oracle 7

Hello,
Recently I tried to use exp on Oracle 7.2.3 to
export
a list of 3000 tables. exp failed, saying it
cannot
handle so many tables. So

(or
expst) on Oracle 7.2.3 ?
[Quoted] (2) What about the limit for Oracle 8 ?
[Quoted] (3) Can I use exp from Oracle 8 to export in
Oracle 7

other than breaking the list of tables into pieces

I am currently using Solaris 2.6.
