There are probably more entry level C++ jobs than Oracle and, from my experience, the compensation opportunities are fewer with C++. The problem with learning C++, from my perspective, is that everybody claims to know it so the compensation is low and the work environment far less challenging.

But that's just my opinion based on my experience. Then again I refuse to admit I've written Cobol and Fortran too.
