Hi Jim!

You are right, LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE is the only key in the registry that is required for a working oracle installation. We have a network installation of Oracle running in our company. (It is not officially supported by the Oracle Hotline!!!)

The directory ORANT is located on a share on the fileserver. When we want to setup an new client, we

- connect to the share
- import to registry key LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE
- use the installation CD and install the packages "System Required Files" (or
"system support files", I do not know it exactly by heart)

This does not really solve your problem, but maybe helps you.
