Record Groups and Reports 2.5

Hi all,
I have a problem.
I am creating a record group in Forms 4.5 and passing this in a
parameter list to a report in Reports 2.5. This record group replaces a
query in the report. There's another query in the report which is linked
to this query.
Now what's happening is that Reports is forcing me to create a
master-child grouping with my record group field as the master. But this
isn't what I want. Is there any way to avoid this?
