There are many people who are using Discoverer. 3.1 is the latest release and has some major enhancements. Discoverer is Oracle's direction as far as ad hoc queries go. It does not compare with Excel via ODBC in that it is much better and faster. It uses native drivers bypassing the much slower ODBC connection. It allows pre-built or user-defined data extraction queries as well as report scheduling. I have never used it in a Terminal Server environment, but if speed were the issue, report scheduling allows you to run bulky queries at night or on the weekend and have them accessible anytime.
