Hi,

Application Server is synonymous with the Webserver. This is the one which has the correct cartridge etc. running (JWEB, PL-SQL etc).

The Developer Server is actually the Forms Server / Reports Server. In a 3-tier architecture, the forms/reports one writes cannot reside in the client (which ideally has only the browser). The forms/reports reside in the Developer server.

They are two logically separate processes but can reside in one machine physically.
