Hi Shirley,

You need a cluster system. 2 servers using the same shared disks with [Quoted] oracle tablespaces on it.
Then you can "startup parallel" in the servermanager.
The OPS option handles the locking mechanism between the 2 cluster nodes.

The advantage of using oracle ops is a higher availability of the system. [Quoted]
If one server fails or comes down, the oracle instance is still up.
