[Quoted] WebDB 2.0.5.6.1 installed on NT 4.0 and Oracle8.1.5 (8i): When starting the WebDB listener service, it seems to start but you can't connect to WebDB. The listener log shows that it actually failed to start:
  • Oracle WebDb Listener Version 2.0.5.6.1 built on Mar 1 1999 at 18:59:38 *** Attempting to Listen on mars, port 2000 at 03/Jun/1999:13:13:01. Fatal error: bind failed

NT event log shows event 104 from the application, with no further explanation of course and the description is:

The application, , generated an application error The error occurred on 5/28/1999 _at_ 18: 7:11.515 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 77f6cde6 (RtlpWaitForCriticalSection)

About 5 minutes after service was started there's DrWatson and the listener service stops.

I tried first with the default port 80 and it "worked" just the same way. Anybody know what might be wrong?

Another funny thing: this webdb is from a technet demo package and according to some manual installation instructions there should be a file wdbmerge.exe but it's not on the cd and the setup program didn't complain about it missing. Any problem there and what would wdbmerge.exe do?
