Discoverer 3 performance

SQL imported into Discoverer 3 is changed to list the tables in the from clause in alphabetical order. This can have a severe adverse impact on the performance of some queries. Does anyone know how to stop this happening or can anyone provide details of how to use Hints effectively in this package? (The ORDERED hint doesn't appear to be available)
