Replication, Gateways, Effort Estimates

In general, and I know this question isn't really fair, would you rate the effort to implement Oracle's solution for bi-directional replication and gateways to DB2 backends to be more, less, or equivalent to other competitors products?

Would you be willing to state your pain points in using these products. I am currently estimating a project and the level of effort is difficult because I only have experience with competitor tools. Also, would you suggest specific skillsets for DBAs that are critical for the installation, tuning, and operation of the above.

I would welcome responses directly to my e-mail address as these messages tend to roll-off and I can't monitor the ng continuously. I don't want to miss the efforts anyone has put into a response.
