Help!: Combo Boxes

I have two combo boxes that are based on database tables. When the first one is changed I need to have the second one requery based on the selection made in the first. This is normally very easy in Visual Basic, but I'm having troubles with it here in Forms 5.0. In the recordset which the combo box is based on I've tried referencing the value of the combo box, assigning it to a global variable, but I'm having no luck.
