Melanie,

If you use the Forms 4.5 in a CHARACTER-BASED environment, then you can convert Forms 3.0 and Menu 5.0 to Forms 4.5 using 'f45gen'.

  1. Converting from Forms 3.0 to Forms 4.5

Use $ORACLE_HOME/bin/f45gen to convert from 3.0 to 4.5 (type f45gen -? to see syntax and options).

   1.1 There are 2 options:

from .inp file to .fmb file or
from .inp file to forms 4.5 repository.

Note: Be sure you convert library forms first !!!

2. Convert Menu 5.0 to Forms 4.5.

This conversion can ONLY be done via the forms 4.0 and forms 4.5 repositories.

    2.1 Run script $ORACLE_HOME/forms45/admin/sql/frm4bild.sql followed by frm4grnt.sql

    2.2 Run the 'menu*.sql' scripts in $ORACLE_HOME/forms45/admin/sql
2.3 Export menu 5.0 application (old environment).
2.4 Sqlplus ..... application into menu tables created under 2.2
2.5 Use $ORACLE_HOME/bin/f45gen to convert from Menu 5.0 to Forms 4.5.
2.6 Link menu to form (manual process).

Good luck !
