Hello All,
I am a database programmer, but I did not work with Oracle and use Oracle development tools. I want to learn by myself. I would like to install an Oracle database and an Oracle development tool (i.e. Forms, Report) on my home PC, so that I can practice DBA and programmer work. From Oracle web pages, I know I can download a trail version for free.
For database, there are
- Oracle8
- Oracle8 Enterprise Edition
- Personal Oracle8 4.Oracle Lite
For develop tools, there are
- Programmer 2000/Oracle8 client products
- Oracle developer 2.0
- Oracle developer 6.0
So my questions are:
- Which one is the best to be used on home PC?
- Can the development tool connect to the database that you suggest?
- Can I install the database and the development tool on the same PC, or they have to be installed on two PCs networked?
- Are they easy to be installed?
Or you may have other suggestions for self-training purpose.
Thanks in advance.
