Hello All,

I am a database programmer, but I did not work with Oracle and use Oracle development tools. I want to learn by myself. I would like to install an Oracle database and an Oracle development tool (i.e. Forms, Report) on my home PC, so that I can practice DBA and programmer work. From Oracle web pages, I know I can download a trail version for free.

For database, there are

  1. Oracle8
  2. Oracle8 Enterprise Edition
  3. Personal Oracle8 4.Oracle Lite

For develop tools, there are

  1. Programmer 2000/Oracle8 client products
  2. Oracle developer 2.0
  3. Oracle developer 6.0

So my questions are:

  1. Which one is the best to be used on home PC?
  2. Can the development tool connect to the database that you suggest?
  3. Can I install the database and the development tool on the same PC, or they have to be installed on two PCs networked?
  4. Are they easy to be installed?

Or you may have other suggestions for self-training purpose.

Thanks in advance.
