I use Oracle 8.0 and it has a file in directory C:\ORANT\DATABASE called strtxxxx.cmd (where xxxx is the SID of your database). The contents of this file look like:
c:\orant\bin\oradim80.exe -startup -sid xxxx -usrpwd zzzzzzzz -starttype srvc, inst -pfile c:\db\initxxxx.ora
where xxxx is still the SID and zzzzzzzz is your database password.
There is also another file in this directory named Pwdxxxx.ora which contains the various (encrypted) passwords. Look out for files initorcl.80, orashut.bat, and orashut.sql
I hope this helps.
