That, and the fact, that your connect alias is des2000 as in your tnsnames.ora.
BTW, adding tns_admin to HKLM\Software\Oracle with a value of
%ORACLE_HOME%\net80\admin assures you only have to maintain
the network config files in the net80\admin diry, not network\admin as well.
Last, but not least, install SQL*Net Client off the 804 CD, make sure
you have the xxx02 (or was it 03?) version.
