Since I got no help in this group, I found out for myself the answer. I was

missing the environment variable PRINTER. Even though on the web you are outputting either PDF or HTML documents, stupid reports forces you to define

a default printer. Not only that, but if you get the REP-1800 formatter error,
the message displays once for every row retrieved. Bad programming boys.
