Prolem with LONG Column in Forms45

ORACLE V7.1.6
I have a problem with a LONG field within a form. The field is multiline,
word wrapped and defined as 2000 chars. If I
enter the field in my application (by tab or mouse) , the programm hangs
and I have to kill the process. There is no way the put some data
into the field.
Why is that ? Has anybody seen the same before ?
Any help is REALLY welcome.
