Re: how to disable user input to a text item?

2 ways.

1. You create block, make it non-updatable and make one item updatable.
2. You create your block on non-updatable view as updatable with updatable items.

You can use many other tricks (when-validate record trigger with raise form-trigger-failure etc.).
