OAS 4.07 shaky under heavy load ?

Platform OAS 4.07 on Solaris 2.6, using the PS/SQL cartridge and Oracle 8.0.5 on another Solaris 2.6 box : We have have written an applet that simulates a large number of concurrent users interacting with an HTML-forms based user interface. We find that OAS sometimes returns a "404 not found", even when the dynamic page it tries to access indeeed exists. The strange thing is that although this message is returned by OAS, the database still seems to be updated by the called PL/SQL procedure, so returning a 404 really does not make sense to us. This behavoiour worries us, has anyone experienced anything similar ?
